Our First Tiny Harvest

We picked some tomatoes today.
My original intent for this garden was for it to be a salsa-and-spaghetti-sauce garden. I planted tomatoes, onion, cilantro, oregano, green peppers, and jalapenos.
I learned a lot. Like that cilantro will be ready WAY WAY WAY before tomatoes.
I doubt that I will make any salsa or spaghetti sauce with the garden. Nothing, and I mean nothing is ready at the same time. Plus, my son loves tomatoes so much, I will get more enjoyment from watching him eat the tomatoes (once they turn red) than I would get from making or eating salsa.
I think next year I plant only tomatoes, and lots of them. Some for salsa; some for spaghetti sauce; some for Jarod.

  1. Really? wow, I never thought about it all ripening at different times. Makes sense though :) Cool that you're able to harvest little by little though. And fresh cilantro and oregano for cooking? That's pretty awesome. I've always wanted an herb garden.
