Today's Frugal Meal, Sunday 9/12

The after-church Sunday night meal is always a bit of a challenge. We always want something quick, but it needs to be cheap. And it has to be easy; the kids need to get in bed shortly after church, so I can't procrastinate getting dinner. And if it isn't easy, I procrastinate. (Story of my life, really.)
So, here's what's in the plan for tonight:

Chips and cheese dip:
Publix brand tortilla chips -- $3.19
Velveeta cheese -- $1.15
dash of milk
1/2 can Rotel tomatoes and green chilies - $.45
Total for chips and cheese: $4.79
Chicken nuggets -- $1.25
Publix brand microwave steam vegetables -- $.99
Total for tonight's quick and easy supper: $7.03
This will feed at least 4, possibly 6, and I anticipate having both chips and cheese left over for a snack another day.
By the way, all of the components for this meal have been purchased within the last 2 weeks. With the exception of the milk (which my sister bought, probably at Wal-Mart) and the Rotel (Target), it all came from Publix.

Publix Savings as of 9/6

I don't have all my Publix receipts available. I am reporting on those I do have available, and will try to do a better job of keeping track!

Here are my new totals, including the Saturday Savings trip I had, as well as another trip to buy meat in which I didn't save anything!

Amount spent: $633.42
Amount ssaved: $1883.19
Percent savings: 74.8%
I have dropped off a little from my percent of savings. I had reached an average savings of 75% or more. I have to make it my goal now to get back to 75%. I really want to get to an average savings of 80% or more.
